The Centre for Modern Art & Theory is a research centre located within the Department of Art History of Masaryk University. It promotes research and teaching in the field of modern and contemporary art, visual culture, aesthetics, design and art criticism. The Centre comprises of scholars and students at various stages of their academic career. Its members encourage development and articulation of new and original ideas in these areas, engage in a productive and critical vein with the latest scholarship, help and support emerging scholars, and encourage collaborative, thematic research. The Centre runs a number of collaborative and individual projects and organises events that disseminate research to the wider public.
